This Dublin-born author is possibly the most important and influential writer of the 20th Century.

Among English writers, his importance is probably only matched (and exceeded) by William Shakespeare.

Joyce, along with Virginia Woolf and others, redefined the course of English literature by introducing the concept of "stream of consciousness" writing, greatly impacting other genres, as well, such as movies and plays.
